Torre Reportedly Turns Down Deal to Return as Yankees Manager for 13th Season
Seriously, if this is true I'll be so excited. And no, it's not because I'm happy Torre will be gone from the Yankees. I like Joe. I like him a lot.
It is such a slap in the face for him to be offered a contract extension of 1 year for 1/3 his salary. I would love it for Joe to slam the door in Steinbrenner's face. He's been abused by that @ss long enough.
I know the senile jerk is being replaced by his two sons, Hank and Hal, but I still like to see Torre turn him/them down.
Of course, this opens the door for the Yankees to say they "tried" to keep Torre and didn't fire him. I wonder if this means Pettitte, Posada and Rivera are staying? Hmm....more to come on this.

Here we are, on the eve of another pisspoor chapter in Red Sox history...and the Yankees get rid of the only member of the team I like. We'll miss Torre. A-Rod, almost as much. No one does the purse-slap like A-Rod!
Prediction: Josh Beckett throws a great game -- but the plate umpire once again leaves his seeing-eye dog at home, and ruins the effort by adding 2 free swings to Kenny Lofton's at bat...Hey! Stop using that dumb-ass Fox rectangle to judge the pitches, Tim McCarver! It has about as much a chance of picking out an accurate result as we do in seeing your actual hair color!! Not gonna happen kids!
