Before I get to the player of the game, it is worth it to point out that the former Cape Leaguers scored 100% of the runs in Game 4 of the World Series. 100%. How great is that? And without further ado...Congratulations to Jacoby Ellsbury, Mike Lowell AND Bobby Kielty who were voted* as the "Cape League Alumni Players of the Game" - As the owner of this blog, I am allowed to vote all three in because they all had incredibly significant plays to bring the Red Sox their second World Series in my lifetime!
*The voting went as follows:
SoxyLady: Ugh, this is hard one. I'm going to go with Kielty - one pitch, one run - the difference in the game. Plus, he said this:
"It's the world series, I was going down swinging - first pitch I was swinging at anything, didn't care if it was rolled in"Soxy's Brother: Ellsbury batted .438 for the series and didn't seem phased by the spotlight - in fact i'm pretty sure he would have run through that wall to catch out #2 in the9th if he had to. but lowell's HR and picture perfect slide would have made tom emansky proud.
Soxy's Dad: LOWELL - he had a big HR and a perfect slide home on Tek's hit. It's Lowell, no question.
So now onto the harder question - Who is the Former Cape League Player World Series MVP?
Here are the totals as I have them - and I'm not going to include pitching stats in here. Unless there is a loud demand for them, I'm going to keep it offense only.
So SoxyLady readers, I need YOUR VOTE!!!!! You tell me who the MVP is!!!!!
