Red Sox At-Bat Songs

OK, I was going to wait to post this until the off-season when there wasn't much to talk about but I can't wait.

Remember back in 2004 when Boston.com so nicely put a link to all of the Sox at-bat songs? That was awesome. Throughout the post season I was able to make a CD and get totally pumped up before the games.

Well now I want to make another CD and I can't freakin' figure some of the songs out!

Here is what I have - can someone please help me out with the rest? I'm counting on you, RSN!

Josh Beckett - Rock Star by Nickelback
Coco Crisp - Buy U a Drank by T-Pain featuring Yung Joc
Manny Delcarmen - ? by Creed
Brendan Donnelly - Thunderstruck by ACDC
Eric Gagne - Welcome to the Jungle by Guns-N-Roses
Mike Lowell - Iron Man by Black Sabboth
Julio Lugo - Impacto by Daddy Yankee
Daisuke Matsuzaka - The Second Coming by Juelz Santana / Real Thing Shakes by B'z / Stronger by Kanye West
Doug Mirabelli - Live Like You Were Dying by Tim McGraw
Hideki Okajima - Okajima-Oki-doke by Mr. Yoshie
David Ortiz - This is Why I'm Hot by MIMS / Big Poppa by Notorious BIG / It's Okay (One Blood) by The Game
Jonathan Papelbon - Wild Thing by the Troggs / Shipping Up to Boston by Dropkick Murphys / (previously) Bodies by Drowning Pool
Dustin Pedroia - The Wash by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre (Samples: Uphill (Peace of Mind) by Fredrick Knight)
Manny Ramirez - Final Countdown by Europe / Cross That Line by Rick Ross / I'm a Flirt by R Kelly
Curt Schilling - Welcome to the Jungle by Guns-N-Roses
Mike Timlin - Black Betty by Ram Jam
Jason Varitek - Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down
Tim Wakefield - How Bad Do You Want It? by Tim McGraw
Kevin Youkilis - Push It to the Limit by Rick Ross

RSN Songs -
Tessie by Dropkick Murphys
Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond
Dirty Water by The Standells
Joy to the World by Three Dog Night
Magic To Do from the Pippen Soundtrack
Cheers Theme Song
Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation
Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson
Brass Bonanza

Help me out - what songs are played for Jacoby Ellsbury, JD Drew, Alex Cora, Julian Tavarez, Clay Buchholz, Jon Lester? Anyone? Plus anyone I've left off, additions/corrections to the above or MP3 links for those which are missing would be MUCH appreciated.

I can hear Pedroia's song in my head, but I don't know what it is. I thought it was whatever sample was used in "Nuthin' But a G Thang," so I checked what samples that song used. One wasn't right, and the other "Uphill" by Frederick Knight is not on itunes. So maybe that's the song, but more likely it's a new song which uses the same sample.

Also, after each win, the order at Fenway goes: DW, Tessie, then Joy to the World by Three Dog Night.

If you really wanted to go crazy, you could include the usual pre-game songs which are played before every game, on both the organ and from cds or whatever. Like, after the organ songs, the first "real song" is that "Join Us" song, followed by the Cheers theme. Etc, etc....

Will let you know if I come up with any other player themes...

Lugo's is "Impacto" by Daddy Yankee; Tim Wakefield's is "How Bad Do You Want It?" by Tim McGraw. I can get both of these to you if you like.

Pedroia comes out to "The Wash" by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre

Jere, Caroline and Joel - ya'll ROCK!

I've been trying to catch Ellsbury's at-bat song the last couple of games that I was at Fenway and have come to the conclusion that he simply doesn't have one. There's just no music when he comes up. Hopefully he picks one soon; I can't wait to add it to my Red Sox play list.

Last night, Lopez came into that main theme from Pulp Fiction, aka Misirlou by Dick Dale. Don't know if this is always his song, but I'd assume it is.

Good call on "The Wash"! I knew it was essentially the same as "G Thang." I just listened to both and it's the same pace, with that same cool sound in each.

Anyone know the who sings the "play ball" song?

Soxy Lady said...

annon - I can't figure out who sings the "play ball" song - seems to be a big question on there....

Hey does anyone know the name of the song they play when they score a run? It sounds like an old game show theme song or something but I just can not figure it out

And what is the name of the song Kevin Youkilis does his running man dance to?

Any help would be much appreciated..thanks for all the info youve had so far

Soxy Lady said...

The Youk "Running Man" song is the Okajima - Okie-doke song. I can't find an MP3 anywhere.

J said...

I found the mp3...its is available to listen on this website, and it has the link for you to download it on itunes.

I might just have to download later tonight when I get home

http://umpbump.com/press/okajima-okie-dokie/

after a lot of searching...it is finally discovered.

No luck on that first song though?

Joseph you win the awesomeness award! NICE FIND!

I don't know the song they play when they score a run...hopefully someone will!

While listening to Matty in the Morning this morning on Kiss 108, they were going down the list of at-bat songs for the Red Sox...and THAT list sounded and ran in the same order as this list...just a little congrats for "getting" on the radio...even though I never heard then give you a shout out...

but here's to a great list

Soxy Lady said...

Hey Joseph, That's interesting! Thanks for the heads up :o)

GO SOX!!!!!!

This list is awesome! I've been looking for something like this for a while. Great job compiling it!

One question though...Manny has a new song (I think) that he's been using for the '07 playoffs. Anyone know what it is?

Geo said...

Manny's song throughout the playoffs has been Kanye West's "Can't Tell Me Nothing" off his latest album.

Thanks for the great list!

Anonymous - the song that they play that sounds like a game show theme is "Brass Bonanza." It was the theme song for the Hartford Whalers.

Anonymous said...

http://brassbonanza.com/hcc/whalers-audio/brass-bonanza/

Is where you can find the Brass Bonanza song, the original version they used to play at the Hartford Whaler games.

I listened the other night and Jacoby doesn't have a song, hopefully he'll pick one out.

I'm not sure Jon Lester has one either... the last game of the season against the twins, "Brick House" by Lionel Richie was playing when he came out... originally he was supposed to come out to "Right Where I Need to Be" by Gary Allan but I haven't heard him use that at Fenway, just Pawtucket.

Anonymous said...

I was just looking for Jacoby's song and the only thing I can find is where they played "Shipping off to Boston" by Dropkick Murphy's while he was in AAA.

Anonymous said...

Did anyone ever figure out JD Drew's song? I can't complete a playlist without it!

Kevin Cash said...

I've been working on a play list like this for some time now.. a few other songs that they play at random points during the game are

Song 2 - Blur
Pressure - Billy Joel
Can't Stop - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Walk this Way - Aerosmith
A Day in the Life - Beatles (*played this during the playoffs whilst showing a 2004 recap video)

Good luck finding other stuff..I've been trying FOREVER to find the "play ball" song, It's impossible to find.

Nuthin' But a G Thang is according to sites that it is the same as uphill peace of mind

Don't know if you're still interested, but during the postseason (especially late in the games) I heard Peter Gabriel's "Red Rain" quite a few times.

Just in case you cared.

I don't know if you are still pursuing this but I sent an e-mail to the Red Sox asking what J.D. Drew's at bat song is and they responded he doesn't have one.

Soxy Lady said...

Thanks, Tim - great feedback. Which email did you use to contact them? Maybe I can verify my list :o)

Hi SOxy Lady
Iam trying to put together a cd with songs played at Fenway or songs related to the Red Sox or the game of baseball, for my son's birthday.I have few other songs, but none of them is "at-bats" songs and apparently You have most of them alreay recorded( burned into a cd??)Is there any way You could sell me a copy? It's been frustrating and dificult for me to get all those at-bats songs, and ironically I have nothing to contribute, but here I am asking You for the same. Obviously I would pay You and the costs of shipping and handling as well. Please let me know if it's possible. I will be looking forward to hear from You. Thank You, that would mean the world to me and especially to my little guy.

Soxy Lady said...

Hi RedSoxFaninVT,

I am sorry - I have been MIA for quite some time and just received your request for the Red Sox Songs CD.

Unfortunately I do not have a CD of these songs made, and would not be able to sell one, as I do not own rights to the songs. I do have many of them on my iPod. The best place to get them would be from iTunes.

I am sorry I could not contact you directly, as you left no contact information. Best of luck to you.

I believe the Manny Delcarmen song is Stand Here With Me by Creed. It is on their Weathered album.

Pedroia - Snoop Dogg "What's My Name"
Coco Crisp - Ray-J "Sexy Can I" and Lil Wayne "Lollipop"
Papi - Akon "Get Buck In Here" feat. Lil Jon

I was just at the game tonight. For Jacoby, they played "Cherub Rock" by The Smashing Pumpkins.

Anonymous said...

I was at the game last night Jacoby Ellsbury definitely comes out to "Cherub Rock" by Smashing Pumpkins.

I think the song they played for ellsbury at the game I went to was by the smashing pumpkins.

Also, they were not playing Kryptonite for varitek. Has he finally changed his song?

Anonymous said...

I'm shocked, but Tek actually changed his song. It's now Rascal Flatts "My Gang".

If anyone knows what Manny's salsa music is I'm dying to know.

Anonymous said...

By the way - I actually found an mp3 of the Play Ball song if anyone is interested. Let me know and I can post it on my website.

Anonymous said...

Hi, some great stuff here!
Anyone know the song snippet sometimes played after a base hit. Sounds like a Euro dance number with a funky beat and a single "Yeahhh" lyric?

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know what the new song is that they play at the top of the 8th. It's says something like Give me a beat??? I could be totally wrong with the words.

Thanks.

Anonymous said...

pedroia has a new song and it has yeah in it twice. rap music, David Aardsma is bodies

Anonymous said...

ellsbury didn't used to have a song because the bullpen wrote a song with a native-american vibe to it for him and they would play that before the smashing pumpkins one came up

This link to an article, dated 6/13/08, has some of the at bat music from mlb http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article_entertainment.jsp?ymd=20080613&content_id=2905090&vkey=entertainment&fext=.jsp; Jacoby apparently did not pick Cherub Rock.

And here's a link to "Play Ball" by J. Bristol, along with lyrics at the Center Field blog http://www.outincenterfield.com/cgi-bin/blog/mt-search.cgi?IncludeBlogs=1&search=play+ball+whatever+the+reason

Jacoby- It's hard to tell, since it's all instrumental in the beginning, but I think Ellsbury's might be "Cherub Rock," by Smashing Pumpkins.

pedroia's new song is um well you can find the first word but the rest is "wit dre day"

Pedroia's song isn't "What's My Name" it's "F*** Wit Dre Day (And Everybody's Celebrating)" by Dr. Dre. At least, that's what it was at the games I've been to.
