2011 Red Sox At Bat - Player Entrance Songs and Songs of Fenway Park

It's that time of year again! It's time to start compiling the list for the Red Sox 2011 At Bat/Player Entrance songs, as well as the songs of Fenway Park.

I was at last night's 4-0 win over the Yankees. I'm not sure what it is, other than the fact that I must be getting old (it is my birthday on Friday...makes sense), but I didn't have a clue on a lot of the at bat songs!

2007 Red Sox At Bat Songs
2008 Red Sox At Bat Songs
2010 Red Sox At Bat Songs
And not mine, but
2009 Red Sox At Bat Songs

And hey, guys, these lists are really a labor of love. Feel free to share with others, but please link back to me if you do.

Some of my information on 2011 player songs came from this article on the Boston.com. Last year, for the first time the Red Sox took my lead (yep, I'm saying my lead. Based on the number of hits I've gotten on these posts, you'd say the same!) and ended up posting their songs online.

I'm counting on you guys to help me fill in the blanks and confirm what I have!

I can confirm that Wake is still using "How Bad Do You Want It".

Funny to note the tremendous ovation he got at the end of his time on the mound even though he pitched as poorly as Daisuke.

I still love him. :)

Thanks for compiling this list, and including the YouTube links!!! It was so fun to listen to all the songs, and it motivated me to finally post this season. I just blogged about it at http://www.pinkhatbluehat.com.

Cyn - Thanks for that confirmation! I have updated the list. I, also, love Tim Wakefield. I think people really just respect him and wish that he was our 5th starter. I gotta say, as HORRID as Daisuke pitches sometimes I have no ill feelings towards him. In fact, I kind of want to hug him and tell him everything will be ok.

Pinkhat Bluehat - I love your blog and am so happy to be the motivation to get you to publish a post this season! I hope you enjoy the music.

i love playing "MLB 11 The Show" on my PS3 and have been trying to find a complete setlist of all the songs the sox play at fenway so that i can upload them right into my video game so that it is realistic as possible, and finally, i found it! thank you so much for taking the time to do this!

by the way, i just got back from the game today...big papi was walking up to "Hotel California" by The Eagles. it might be a good add to the already impressive list!

I can't find this up there..but if the game goes into the bottom of the 9th, they play "Hero" (not sure who it is by.. but it goes "I need a hero! he's gotta be..."). hope this helps!(:

Did I hear Ortiz walk out to "All I Do is Win" today?

I think "I Need a Hero" is Bonnie Tyler.

Awesome list! I just came back from my first Fenway Park games this past week and was looking for a few of the Red Sox players songs when they come up to bat. I found your post here when I did a search. Thanks for compiling the list and including the youtube video links :)

Hey Karen! Glad you liked it, I hope you had a great time at Fenway! :)

here is another one ... last night, Andrew Miller used "In Gods Country" by U2

Soxy Lady said...

Thanks, Loops! Adding it now. I'm wondering if it will be his perm. at bat song, or if it was a tribute to Clarence Clemons.

Loops said...

Also, I can confirm Lester is still using the same song this season :)

Loops, you're my BFF today!

At the Friday game against the Brewers I heard Big Papi come up to "Moment 4 Life" by Drake, the part where he says "I am a Dominican, Big Papi Ortiz" or something.

This is what Lackey used tonight ... not sure if this is what he has been using all season or not though ... "Guys Like Me" by Eric Church

does anyone know the song that is played at fenway around the 5th inning that sounds electronic like passion pit? it dosnt have any lyrics but i like the beat?

Anonymous said...

well, on Papi walking out to Hotel California- he would play it until it said "up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light-" and then it would stop..pretty sure the lyrics are the reason he was using that song!

SoxyLady said...

@Anon - according to a faithful friend who has been helping me with this list, the song played in the player video montage before the game is "The Show Goes On" by Lupe Fiasco

LunamothMama said...

During the sox/Yanks game 2 Sundays ago when the game was in extra innings it was midnight & they played Thriller.... Very appropriate, I'd say! Lol

Anonymous said...

Great site! Anyone know the classical song that is played just prior to the sox taking the field during the video montage?

B Herb said...

Anon August 17th, I know exactly what song you are referring and i am very interested in finding out who sings that song too. I was just at the past games Sat, Sun and Mon and they played it after a run scored for the Red Sox.

For those of you who might be able to help, upbeat tune no lyrics in the sound bite and as Anon described it sounded a little like Passion Pit.

Atchison comes out to "Heartland" by George Strait... saw him pitch the second to last day at Fenway

Can anyone recognize the song in the background? They play it around the time the starters get warmed up. Thanks!
