According to Channel 7 News in Boston, the Herald and Boston.com a deal will be finalized tomorrow between Lowell and the Sox. A three year deal between 12-13 mill/year. Apparently after his trip to Disney World with the family Lowell decided he wanted to stay in Boston. YAY!

Pedroia Kicks Major @ss!!!
Since there is no new news to report on the MikeVP Lowell signing I thought I'd highlight another player who is hoping our MVP will return to a Red Sox uniform.
Dustin "F*ck Yeah!" "Kick @ss" Pedroia.
Not only does he call Lowell his favorite teammate, he points out when the "Big Guys" weren't able to get it done this year, Lowell was there to carry the team.
“He got talked about a lot there at the end, but he didn’t get talked about as much as he should have. When David (Ortiz) was banged up, Manny (Ramirez) was hurt, and J.D. (Drew) was struggling a little bit, Mike Lowell was the guy who picked up the slack and carried us the whole year.”It continues to amaze me the way Lowells teammates speak out about him. At the very least, and I hope it doesn't come to this, at least Lowell knows the fans of Boston want him back and his teammates want him back.
“This year he was a big influence on a lot of guys,” the second baseman added. “He obviously helped out Jacoby (Ellsbury) when he came up. He made this atmosphere relaxed where a (youngster) could play in that certain situation. He’s part of everything.”
But back to why Pedroia kicks @ss....
He told people yesterday that he's been playing at least since September 10th with a cracked hamate bone in his left hand. This is the same type of injury that sidelined Wily Mo for two months.
“Some days I would wake up and it would be hard to grip a bat,” Pedroia said. “I changed my grip a little bit on the bat and went from there. It was just one of those things you know you have to take care of after the season, but you have to play through. A lot of guys have done that. You definitely don’t want to shut it down and have surgery during the whole thing. We just had to find a way to fight through it.”YES! Rock on Dirt Dog! I'm not saying it's possible to go out and play (well) every day with an injury but Papi did it this year with his knee and shoulder, and Pedroia did it with his hand. Both guys were major contributors to the World Series win.
Pedroia had surgery on Tuesday to "fix" his hand.....hopefully the pain will be forgotten when he wakes up next week as the American League Rookie of the Year!!!!

Before I get to the player of the game, it is worth it to point out that the former Cape Leaguers scored 100% of the runs in Game 4 of the World Series. 100%. How great is that? And without further ado...Congratulations to Jacoby Ellsbury, Mike Lowell AND Bobby Kielty who were voted* as the "Cape League Alumni Players of the Game" - As the owner of this blog, I am allowed to vote all three in because they all had incredibly significant plays to bring the Red Sox their second World Series in my lifetime!

I'm having a hard time wanting to post lately. The thing is, all the news about the Red Sox lately is DRAMA filled. I just want them to play ball already.
Dear members of the Boston Sports Media,
Enough is enough. I am sick to death trying to figure out who is getting more attention. Is it the threesome of Britney, Anna and Cameron? Or Manny, Schill and Dice-K? The Red Sox are a BASEBALL team. Let's keep it real. Cut the drama. Let's talk about baseball. Lets talk about Timlin's possible injury, lets talk about Mike Lowell's leadership and for goodness sake, if we must talk about Dice-K lets talk about how he and Vtek are learning to communicate with one another!
Stop blowing things out of proportion. Any serious baseball fan could not have expected the Red Sox to renew Curt's contract before the season started. I don't give a rats @ss about why Manny is late to spring training - I care about his condition once he arrives! And honestly, let's give Dice-K some room to breath and PITCH. That is what he's here for after all!

Rocky Mountain Low
As of right now, the Helton deal isn't going to work out. No big deal. The Sox didn't NEED him, he just would have rounded out a KILLER offense (well, if everyone stayed healthy). What really s*cks about the whole thing played out. The media may say there are no hard feelings between the Rockies and the Sox, but common. There was already bad blood because of the Larry Bigbie deal that never happened. And now:

Dear Mr. Monfort,
Todd Helton is a great baseball player, but lets face the facts. He's past his prime. He is not a baseball God. In fact we'd be giving up two strong players in both Mike Lowell and Julian Tavarez for your one, Mr. Helton. To insist they are nothing is a slap in the face not only to them, but to the Red Sox as an organization and to RSN.
You say that you need to build up young talent? You're right, you do. As does every other team in MLB. So trading Helton for young prospects benefits us this year, maybe the next year....but you for years in the future. Why would we do that? We don't play for the short term strategy. You stated Mike and Julian can help you in the short term, but you need more. Ummm....right.
You're asking the Sox to do something you publicly stated you wouldn't. I don't get it.
Moreover, Dear Mr. Monfort - there was no need to leak Lowell and Tavarez's name to the media. Now, not only are their egos bruised by your "nothing" comment but the Sox are going to have to smooth over their relationships with these two players. We were trying to make a deal with your struggling organization. Baseball is business to the front office, right? We weren't playing gossip trash-talk with the media.
Please get over yourself, and try not to come in last in the NL West this year.

Let's see you go out there, knock 'em dead a while and then draft something up. If you've still got the goods, we want you back. I love to hear you say you wouldn't go to NY if things don't work out with the Sox next season. Stick to your word, Schill - if you don't your political career in MA is dead before it even started.
